코오롱의 문화예술 나눔공간 스페이스K 서울은 런던을 중심으로 활동하는 최민영(b.1989)의 개인전 《꿈을 빌려드립니다》를 개최합니다. 작가는 유년 시절과 이주의 경험에서 비롯된 기억의 편린들을 모아 꿈과 현실 사이의 몽환적인 장면으로 표현합니다. 일몰의 한강에 돌고래가 출몰하거나, 거실에 잠든 사람 옆에 펭귄이 나타나거나, 한밤중 뜬 무지개가 달무리처럼 빛이 나면서 한 화면에 공존할 수 없는 요소들이 뒤섞인 새로운 풍경이 탄생합니다. 작가가 빚어낸 마술적 사실주의 풍경들은 우리에게 독특한 서사와 의미를 상상하게 합니다. 최민영의 낯설고 친숙한 세계는 마치 불가능한 일이 실현되는 꿈처럼 다가오며, 우리가 마주하는 다양한 현실을 새로운 차원에서 바라보게 합니다.


Space K Seoul is pleased to present 《Dreams for Hire》, a solo exhibition by London-based artist Minyoung Choi (b.1989). The artist gathers fragments of memories from her childhood and experiences of migration and presents them as dreamlike scenes between dreams and reality. Dolphins appear in the Han River at sunset, penguins appear next to a person asleep in the living room, or a rainbow in the middle of the night shines like a cluster of moons, creating a new landscape where elements that wouldn't coexist on the same screen are mixed together. The artist's magical realist landscapes invite us to imagine unique narratives and meanings. Minyoung Choi's strange and familiar world feels like dreams where the impossible is realized, and they allow us to look at the various realities we encounter in a new light.
