This series of paintings entitled :human body/landscape takes its inspiration from traditional chineese acupuncture illustrations.
In these medicinal illustrations one can see lines and dots which give some indications on how the human body functions.
We see organs, veins, linked together according to the imagination of those ancient acupuncters.
They were able to achieve, with very limited and primitive means, medicinal illustrations which are more like a mental journey through the human body rather than a rigorous observation or experimentation
Their approach recalls those of the first explorers describing in their "journal of voyage" a strange amalgam of real and imaginary experiments.

Like Christopher Columbus or Marco Pollo, when discovering new territories would have found new creatures recalling monsters or strange fairylike plants, these Chineese authors also found, in exploring the human body, organs of strange shapes recalling mountains, clouds, valleys or rivers.
Whether it be a "journal of voyage" or medicinal illustrations, it is allways been the same irrepressive need to express the inner life inside each of us and share it with other human beings. It is human and we call it "communication."

human body/landscape (인체 의 풍경) 연작은 중국의 전통 침술 교본 도감에서 영감을 받아 작업한 것이다.
의학 그림에서의 선과 점은 인간의 몸의 기능에 대해 알려주며 또한 고대 침술사의 상상에 의거한 각 신체기관과 핏줄의 연결 등을 볼 수 있다.
그들이 이 제한적인 의학 도감을 통해 성취할 수 있는 것은 정확한 관찰이나 실험이기 보다는 일종의 정신적인 수행 같은 것 이라 할 수 있을 것이다.

그들의 이러한 접근 방식은 마치 초대 탐험가들의 상상과 실체가 혼합된 “견문록”을 연상시킨다.

크리스토퍼 콜럼버스나 마르코 폴로가 그들이 발견한 새로운 생물을 괴물이나 요정의 나무 같이 묘사하듯이 이들 중국 작가들도 인간의 몸 안에서 발견한 새로운 신체기관의 희한한 모양들을 산, 구름, 계곡이나 강처럼 묘사 하고 있는 것이다.

이것이 “견문록”이던 의학 도감이던 그것은 항상 억압될 수 없는 인간의 또 다른 인간과의 공유를 의미하는 것이다. 우리는 이것을 매우 인간적인 것이며 또한 “소통”이라고 하는 것이다.
