"사람만큼 우리에게 직접적으로 강한 느낌을 주는 사진적 소재는 없다고 생각한다.

다른 생명체나 사물을 볼 때보다 사람을 볼 때 나는 그 사람의 아주 짧은 순간의 시선, 표정, 몸짓에서도 예민하게 직접적으로 어떤 느낌을 받게 된다. 사람은 사람에게 가장 관심이 있다.
누드는 그런 의미에서 볼 때 좀 더 근원적이다. 사회적인 여러 ‘장치’에서 벗어난 누드는 더 본능적이며 자연적이다. 나에게 더 근원적인 관심을 불러일으킨다.
이와 같은 누드에 상징적인 사물을 첨가해 단순화되고 명확한 의미를 만들고자 했다.

돌, 과일, 야채, 돈, 나무, 나뭇잎, 나비, 물 등 등...

단순한 신체의 일부로서의 몸, 살아가기 위해 필요한 여러 장기들이 모인 집합적 보조체로서의 몸이 아니라 지금까지 인간이 만들어온 상징과 개념들의 적극적인 전달자로서 몸을 표현하고자 했다.

이 사진들 속에서 몸은 그 자체가 주인공이다."

참고로 이 사진들은 이중 인화(double printing), 이중 촬영(double exposure), 인화지 빛 가리기와 빛 더 주기(dodging and burning), 조색(toning) 필름 겹쳐 인화하기(sandwich printing) 등 등 전통적인 사진의 방법들로만 만들어졌다.

"There is nothing more expressive as a photographic subject than humans.
Rather than looking at another living thing or an object, I perceive keen emotional senses from seeing even in a brief moment of time a person’s gaze, facial and body expressions. For humans, another human being is the greatest object of interest.

Nudes in such sense are very elemental. Free of society’s devices, nudes are even more natural and instinctive. They arouse elemental interests within me. I have strived to express simple and clear iconic images by addition of symbolic objects.

Rocks, fruits, vegetables, money, trees, leaves, butterflies, water and more.

Not a simple collection of organs for life but wanted to express what we have created up to now in symbols and elements as to what body is. Within these photos, bodies themselves are the protagonists."

For references, these photos were created via double printing, double exposure, dodging and burning, toning, sandwich printing and other traditional photographic methods.
